About

Dr. Heather Moroso earned her NMD from the Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine and has operated a private practice in Tucson since 2003. In addition to her private practice, the Southern Arizona AIDS Foundation and El Rio/Special Immunology Associates employed Dr. Moroso from 2004-2009. In that capacity, she worked in conjunction with the patients’ primary care physicians to provide specialized services to patients living with HIV/AIDS.

Dr. Moroso has been heavily involved in several local non-profit organizations. She won the New Volunteer of the Year award for the Southern Arizona AIDS Foundation in 2006. She has served on the boards of Tucson Interfaith HIV/AIDS Network, Wingspan’s Health & Wellness Advisory Board and the Pima County Ryan White HIV/AIDS Consortium Membership Committee. Dr. Moroso currently serves on the board of the Southern Arizona Artists and Musicians Healthcare Alliance.

Dr. Moroso is the founder and CEO of the non-profit organization Positively Beautiful. This organization was an outgrowth of her work with the aforementioned organizations. She launched Positively Beautiful in 2007 when she realized that people living with HIV/AIDS suffer more than physical ailments – they also suffer the stigma of the disease itself. Some of this stigma comes from the ‘look’ of HIV: the distinctive physical changes of lipodystrophy caused by anti-retroviral medications. Through the art of makeup and hair, Positively Beautiful erases this ‘look’ by and providing lipodystrophy-specific makeovers for women. In the last five years, Positively Beautiful extended services to men and women from Tucson and rural Southern Arizona, has lead the annual day long celebration of World AIDS Day since 2008, implemented a prevention program called Project Power and created a partnership with the international non-profit Support for International Change. The Southern Arizona AIDS Foundation awarded Positively Beautiful the Group Volunteer Effort award in 2008.
